The 2019 World Aromaster Roasting Championship Korea Qualifier attracted 141 competitors, highlighting Korea’s strong presence in the global coffee scene. Co-hosted by Probat, Scentone, Global Coffee School (GCS), and Mirae Exhibition, the event follows the recent Thai qualifier, which saw participation from 50 roasters.

Winners received top-tier prizes: a Probat sample roaster worth KRW 15 million for first place, a sponsored trip to Probat HQ in Germany for second, and a Scentone Theorem 144 aroma kit for third.

THE GABI was selected as the official brewing tool for the championship. Other sponsors included Saeyong GC (official green beans), Pandora Roasters, Brewstar (brewing pot), Brita (water filters), Sonic Dutch, Gimisanggung (coffee refractometer), Korea Culinary Arts Academy (evaluation tools), Kukhojeon (official supporter), and Lemapresso (preliminary evaluation venue).

As one of the largest international roasting competitions, the 2019 World Aromaster Roasting Championship will be held at KINTEX on October 9–10, featuring participants from Honduras, China, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand.

A spokesperson stated, “This event focuses on evaluating coffee’s aroma and flavor above all. We’ve assigned Korea’s top judges to ensure fairness and credibility. We aim to elevate the value of the coffee industry and promote its growth through this global platform.”
